Insurance Q & A - Anders & Dunaway Nutrition Consultants, Inc.
Does my insurance cover my visit to see a registered dietitian?
Many insurance plans will cover your visit to see a registered dietitian, and we are contracted with many insurance companies. If your insurance company does not, be sure to request this benefit.
Will medicare cover my visit?
Medicare allows a certain number of visits for people with diabetes or kidney disease. We also accept medicare for these conditions.
Do I have to pay a copay?
It depends on your insurance. If you have a copay it is usually printed on your insurance card; look for the copay amount for a specialist.
For those who have a primary and a secondary insurance, there usually is no copay.
Although many insurance companies do not have dietitians as providers, they sometimes will provide coverage on a case by case bases. We will be happy to bill your insurance company; however, if the claim is rejected please note that we will bill you for the visit. The chance of the insurance company covering the visit is improved with a referral from your doctor. You can obtain a referral for your doctor to sign by clicking on the referral tab on the home page and print.
